Tea is India's greatest leveller. Everyone drinks tea, the taxi driver, the teacher, the labourer, the Prime Minister and even me. Whether it's a refreshing cup of masala chai from the road-side stall or a clear jasmine in your finest china - it is a momentary stop in one's day, a punctuation mark, a time for reflection and even conversation and fun. As a typical Indian girl, chai has been the only mainstay in my life, and I end up reaching for a cup at 5 pm every day.
Have a cold? Chai. Going through a stressful time? Drink a cup of chai. Did you win the lottery? Let's celebrate with my mom's milky masala chai.
It's fun to discover it in different forms and my discovery is Japanese Matcha - a fine powder made from green tea leaves. This vanilla Matcha recipe is my latest obsession and pick me up, that gives a refreshing twist to my typically Indian habit - one cup of chai a day. Watch my video to learn the recipe!
